Tires for a 98

I need new tires on my 98 ML320. I have the Michelin Cross Terrains now and had a couple of sets of the General Grabber ST's previously. I like the Michelins and as I recall, they were a big improvement over the Generals. Big price difference however and I probably will be getting rid of the ML sometime this year. Help me remember - are the Generals that bad?

If you want a tire cheaper than the Cross, try the new General Grabber HP. Good reviews on tirerack.com. I have a set of Goodyear Forteras. It was night and day compared to the OEM Generals. Generals were noisy, vibrate.

If you are getting rid of it in the next 5 months I'd go with something Benz put on originally; e.g., the General's, Continentals, or Dunlops. Still safe but save some money for your next ML! I like the Dunlop Sport 5000's that came on my ML but when the time comes to replace them I'm going with the Cross Terrains.
