Looking

OK, after a short review of the forum for known problems associated with the ML my search was really pretty short.

Some Brake problems
Some trim problems
Some driveshaft problems

Is that it?

I currently drive a 97 Audi A8, so performance wise I am a little spoiled right now, but service wise? Let me put it this way. Have had the car a year, put 35,000 miles on it and it has spent 24 days in the shop and cost me an additional $3,000 in parts and labor not including the extended warranty I bought.

The 2000 ML 430 I drove this weekend was pretty nice, 43,000 miles, still tight, good acceleration, above average SUV type handling, below average highway wind noise, adequate stopping etc, but you guys know all of this.

My question is this. Did they work most of the bugs out by the 2000 model year?

How are they after 100,000 miles.

And did I miss any major problems with the ML 430.

MB did work out a lot of the bugs by MY2000. There are still some new ones, but overall you'd expect very little problems with the 2000 ML430 you're thinking about. Whatever problems there were must have been taken care of by previous owner. By 100Kmiles, I don't expect you to find any problema at all. An alternative is to get the much slower ML320, new, since MB is discounting them now, a lot, due to the introduction of the ML350 later this year.
