Where is the cigarrette lighter fuse? I cannot find my manual and (i) button chaps didnt have a clue. Help!

Fuses in my ML500 are under the hood in the engine compartment and I think the right front kick panel.

Passenger side footwell. You'll need a flat head screwdriver, or a quarter to open it. Or really, really strong nails.

I've got a 2002 ML320. The cigarette lighter plug in the ashtray is dead. Checked the 20A fuse associated with it and it's fine. Question 1- is there anything else, other than a loose wire that could cause this to fail? Question 2- is there an easy way to get it out of the holder? It has a lighted rim that actually works so there's power there somewhere, just not in the socket itself. I checked it with a meter.

Any suggestion welcome. BTW, I read that the entire console has to be removed to get at it. That seem pretty serious but, if I have to I will. Any help there would be appreciated to. The instructions I read were sketchy.
