Do 98's have a lot of problems? I seem to have a lot of electrical problems. Also, does the factory alarm shutt off the fuel? My car died, and when I fixed everything it won't start.

I have about 87,000 miles on my '98. I can think of only two electrical problems I've had, one with one of the door locks needing replacement a couple years ago (I assume they're electric door locks) and another when the window switches quit a year ago. About a month ago I thought my engine had gotten out of tune but it turned out to be a bad tank of gas. I think I have all the "electrical" options you could get in 1998 except fog lights.

The wind deflector on my sunroof broke a couple weeks ago but that's a mechanical problem.

Well in comparison to the newer ML's, you won't be much better in the X5 camp either. Instead of the ML's windows switches, etc. you will have an X5 that spontaneously combusts and has major safety recalls every other week. (lol)
