Been messing around with my 00 ML 430 lately after the maf went out. I took the old air box out and added a open element tucked into the corner of the fender. Wasn't really impressed with sound at all and noticed the stock inlet noise resonator........hum I haven't notice anyone replacing the whole inlet to the motor. I pulled the black plastic resonator off and plugged it and went for another ride. Wow thats the sound I was looking for, kinda sounds like the SHO I had when the short runners opened mid rpm. Right @ 3900 the ml takes on a new sound and I kinda like it. I should put my wide band on it and check wot a/f to make sure the 90 degree pipe isn't leaning the motor out by making trubulance, kinda like the 03-04 cobras. Anybody else do this.

Sounds like fun. Any notice of increase in Hp or just smother accelleration?

had it. long run, not worth it. trust me.

I haven't seen a full run CAI for a ML, what do they cost? I only have 26 bucks(cost of cone filter) in it so it's worth it for me. The rest I did myself. There isn't any hp gain in just removing the inlet resonator, just sound diff.

I had a performance shop fabricate one for me. I think it was a few hundred.
