Corrosion problem on ML270 (2001)
Hello Everybody,
I purchased my brand new ML in October 2001. I wash my car regularly and while drying noted paint coming off from the underside of the door panels and the tailgate. I booked the car at the local dealer (I live in Malta) for an inspection. The inspection lasted approximately 1 hour. I then got the shock of my life. I was informed that all 4 doors have to be replaced together with the bonnet, front wings, the tailgate and sunroof because these parts have started corroding. Besides these panels both wipers, back tail lights and window rubber have also got to be replaced.
The local dealer accepted to replace all the above mentioned parts under warranty and also accepted to give me a replacemet car.
Have any of you had the same problems? If so how were they sorted out? I am asking, because I have heard that there were some cases where Mercedes replaced the vehicle with a new one.

2001 ML270
Just got my ML back from the dealer. They replaced all 4 doors, hood, sunroof tray and rear hatch. The dealer invited me to the workshop to inspect the car as works were in progress. Thank God no signs of rust were evident on the other parts of the car. As for the doors, hood and rear tailgate the amount of rust there was on the inside when they removed the door trim was incredible. All parts and labour works were carried out under warranty. Make sure to check your ML because carrying out these repairs out of warranty is a real pocket buster!!!
