Keys reset??
Recently my car died, so I did a full tune up; air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, alternator. The car still didn’t start up, so I took it to a mechanic, and he told me I had to reset my keys! Sure enough it worked. Has this happened to anyone?

I recently bought a 2001 ML 320. I was giving 2 keys without knowing that the second key does not . I followed the manual to sync the key to the car. It still does not work. I finally took it back to the local dealer to reset the key. Sure enough, it works.

key discoded
I have used one key only and a spare was in a closet. 1 year later a key that I used died, I replaced the battery but no help.
Called dealer and they said the truck and key has to be synchronized. 3 seconds later it was all oke. This is an anti-theft device working up against the illegally copied keys.
Did you see the Gone-in-60-seconds movie, they had a copy and it worked for a car, but they needed the car and computer and a key all toghether and synchronize them. They went after the guy to get close to him and copied the codes. I'm not really sure it is possible, but I guess if the money is great, anything is possible.
