My 1998 ML320 is running out of warranty on the 29th and I am taking this car in the dealer for the service and final check up before the warranty dies. Is there anything I should notify the dearler to inspect for like those common bugs with M-Class?

Also I have a popping/clicking noise problem with steering when the car is in a stand still and turning the wheels left and right. The dealer told me that it's my 18" wheels causing the bushings to wear out fast and there's nothing that they can do about it. Is that true?

Thanks.

oooohhh, I love MLs that are just about out of warranty. I make some serious money off those. All you have to do is bring it in, and tell the service writer "It's almost out of warranty, you know what to do *wink, wink*" You can get new door seals, door latch assemblies, sunroof noise insulation pads, door check straps, transfer case, and a few other things. Your writer will take care of you, he makes money off it too

Thanks Dave ...

By the way, can the 98s M-class add the extra weather stripe found on the post 2000 model. I see the 2000 models have extra weather stripping on the door. Unlike my 98 with only weather strippings on the body only.

I have heard of people getting that extra weatherstripping around the doors if they throw a big enough fit. Not that I condone that kind of behavior. You could try complaining of a wind noise at freeway speeds from the door areas.

By complaining of wind noise at free way speeds, technicians will road test the vechile to confirm. But what if they cannot confirm. My ML(1998 320, 32k) seems to be a bit noisy at high speeds. I heard it is the seals around the window that is changed and requires about 2+ hours of work per door to change.

I would like my ML to be a bit quieter on the road.
Will the extra weatherstripping around the doors/trunk and sunroof noise insulation pads help to reduce the noise??

Thank you in advance...!!
