Angry Headlight can't take the heat!

Driving last night in the Sierra mountains with my Highbeams and lowbeams on for around 10 minutes and I smell burning plastic!!

I had to turn off my lights and drive with my only fog lights home. I like those old glass light housing better.

Anyone had that problem before?

HID is solution i think

hi
Mine did not get that hot but they tend to heat up quite up, expecially if you installed axillary light(medial to your head light) like me. I actually did not smell it burning, but it does get very hot. I am going to upgrade mine to HID, because they do not get that hot, and take less energy. well I posted bulk order thing here, if you are interested contact me. thanks.

this is message i posted ..

HI lucky people driving such nice vehicle.. Well I have a 2001 ML, and One option I really wanted was HID system which was $875 more than what i paid. Unfortunately I did not get it, I have been regreting ever since. I found this HID manufacturer in Japan, and They offered me if I order more than 10, they can supply HID at $500/set including shipping. Well that's shipping to me as bulk, then there will be shipping for domestic which shouldn't be more than 10 to 15 max. I have been researching HID for several weeks now, and they seems to be the best so far. let's me explain what kind HID it is, they burn at 6200K, i think that's like HIDs installed in AUDI TT, those bluish purple white beams. Manufacturer offer 1 year warranties on blaster and bulbs. Those of you who are not familar with HIDs, they are those bright white lights from high end vehicles(I guess ML 320 and 430 are not high end vehicles.. shoot) if you are interested please feel free to contact me.. my email is ucimike829@socal.rr.com, and my phone number is 714-348-9888 thank you.

I also installed the auxillary like yours with a set of H3 PIAA bulbs and Raybrig remote control unit. But mine didn't burn as hot as you described. I wonder how many people crossover to X5 because of the ML bugs hahahaha.
