Hey yankees, do you know the ML 400 CDI exist ? I purchased one for my wife, for Christmas day... and it is damned good... The first week we drove 2000 Km... from Switzerland to Belgium. A pure pleasure... in the snow, in the rain. It push very hard and is very comfortable.
The best gift of this very good year, after my CLK 55 AMG.

And for those in UK, Australia and other RHD countries, they are not making it in right-hand-drive (otherwise I'd have considered it over the ML500 my wife just got)

Its too bad we can't get those new generation diesels. Anyone who thinks that diesels are too much of a pain for americans is speaking from the old school of thought or just plain ignorance. Drive a 98/99 E300 and then come talk to me. In any case, someone said that the reason we can't get the new Euro diesels, which are extremely efficient and powerful, is the smog regulations(particularly california). Our fuels are lower quality, however thats not the reason. Also, someone posted mistakenlyabout diesel fuel being high sulfur...., our diesel fuel is LOW sulfur, which is why some of the bigger and more conventional truck diesel engines have to add lubricity enhancers to the fuel. Actually the new generation direct injection benz diesel did sneak its way to america. Its in the new Fedex trucks made by freightliner, you'll see them from time to time, a little different looking. THey also have the S500 transmission. I bet they are smooth.
