ML 500 hps supercharger PROBLEMS
Hey all,
newbie here just had a hps stage 1 system put on my ml 500 along with a haltech interceptor. Havent picked it up yet as it is having misfire problems and shutting what appears to be andom cylinders down when it happends at when it builds about 2lbs of boost.
We know it isnt plugs (they're bosch), cables or coils as it is reporting a different cyl malfunction everytime and it could have 8 dodgy cables and coils. It has had an adiotnal injector added along with the hltech management system however it desnt seem to fit the problem?
Has anyone got any ideas? If you need more info just ask as I am dealing this info second hand from my tuning specialist as they are running out of ideas and are having trouble getting on to hps.
Any help to get me back behind the wheel would be greatly appreciated.

Best have them remove everything and put it back to stock. If you don't you are in for a long and bumpy ride ending up in court. If your tuner has no ideas he should close his shop and find another way to make a living. As for your decision to do this that was dumb also.

Big thanks to HPS for their help as service has been great, problem solved and my ML now hauls *** and sounds like satan when I put my foot down. Very happy with it.

LOL Thanks for the laugh. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well. Since you have 3 posts here, I'll just take what you said as HPS ignorance. One quick search will show you how laughable that company is. Just so you know - with all of their customers they're very helpful the first time. Once your engine blows...not so much.

My wife drives a 1999 ML430 and was wondering if that set up on the CLK would work. I'd much rather go with Vortech. Since I had them on my Mustang a while back. Is there a kit available or does it have to be custom.
Anyway just wondering. I got a bogging problem now with the cold air intake I got from any ebay special with K & N filter. I got CEL with Fuel trim errors. People are saying its the MAF. Messed up with oil from my filter. What do you think? They say I am basiclly an idiot for changing it from stock air box. Anyway I do like your set up. You sound like you know what you are talking about. Any advise would be appreciated.

My almost stock ML will still blow the doors off that Santa Ana Supercharger your using
HPS is very bad. I drove their CLK500 supercharged and was very dissapointed in the amount of lag that it has. If you want to supercharge a mercedes, You cant be cheap about it

I gave Adam and HPS the benefit of the doubt about 2 years ago,
but since then, I think they've ruined more Mercedes-Benz engines than all other MB tuners combined, ever !
I can't believe HPS advertises on the Mercedes-Benz Club of America STAR magazine with a full page ad full of complete fabricated claims.
Their product is the last thing on earth I would ever install on any of my MB's.

Doing the same mods to my ML500
Hi,
I am just starting with this project and keen to know how you got on solving these issues?
I was just going to bolt on the 55k Kompressor and use the SL500 ECU which apparently is tuned to the max on this set up, I've been told I'll need to modify the exhaust flow to help it breathe
I'm also going to make a custom inlet manifold and possibly grind the ports
I've not found anyone else doing this so be good to keep in touch with your projects
