adding navigation and phone to 2002 ml320
I've seen parts of this question posted on the forum here and there... I've got a 2002 ML 320, we would like to add navigation and the telephone. What is the best/cheapest way. The vehicle already has the LCD screen, Bose, and CD Changer.
I think if i go to the dealer it will cost me upwards of $3000. Ouch. It seems like I could do better buying it elsewhere?
Has anyone done this? Anyone have suggestions (other than 'go to the dealer') ?
Thanks,
mahin.
You can put in either into your MCS - the difference is just the module. The cost is now about the same - the cheapest prices for the DVD system are around 1450 including the DVD (which costs $250 by itself) - so that's around 1200 for the module itself.
The CD-based one you can get for a little less than that - I'm about to start researching on both to see the absolute lowest price possible - it'll take a couple weeks maybe - when I have some time.
Anyway, for the phone, which phone do you want to use? The Timeport or the V60. Also what provider do you want.
The phone unit is going to be the more complicated one, as it consists of I believe three different 'kits.' One installation kit, one of the main module, and another one. I also have to research this one, but right now it's about 1300 I believe - including the phone, which, if you get the V60, costs about $500 itself.
So if you get them for these prices thats 1450 for the DVD-Nav with the DVD + 1300 for the phone and kit = about $2750 total.
As I said, I will be researching the prices (I've also been looking at this for this myself) - I can usually find some nice deals from some place - if there's somewhere with a good price, I'll post it.
Hope it helps.

The DVD Nav is just a different module than the CD nav, nothing else new.
Many people have put it into '02s, some have put the DVD in older, it should work with '00's and newer, in other words any ML that has the MCS can have the DVD Nav.
Hope it helps.
after doing losts of searching I have found a way to add bluetooth to the MCS bit it requires the V60 phone setup which I do not have , I know the phone setup consist of 3 parts does anyone know if there a part I can skip since I want to connect a different phone to the MCS using the bluetooth.
