Wondering if the standard V phone works through the MCS?

Wondering if the standard V phone works through the MCS?
Has anyone tried to hook up a non-MB phone to the Motorola kit? I know they say it does not work, but has anyone actually tried?
$700.00 for the V phone seems kinda ludicrous to me.
I heard that it does, but wanted to confirm b4 purchasing the kit. . .

From all I hear from people that have tried is that It does not work. MB has propietry software that is available only thru MB dealers in the phone that they sell. I have the Timeport in my ML500 as the V phone was not yet available when I took delivery in August. The dealer offered to upgrade mine for $400.00 but for that kind of $$ I do not mind pushing a few buttons and the Timeport works just fine
