New Radio...still having probs

About 1 month ago I went to an aftermarket place and had them install a new radio in my 1999 ML430.
This is what I got:

Clarion head unit ( DXZ925)
Boston component speakers in the front (Rally series)
Clarion amp (401.4)
Rear speakers (unknown...have to go back and ask)
cd changer in glove box (DCZ625)

So here's my problems:

The FM reception sucks. I can hardly got any stations to come in...even the station thats about 2 towns over has static!!!

The sound quality is good...but not great.....they left the stock preaker covers on because they matched the color of the interior. They are hard plastic and I believe would affect the sound coming out of them...is that true? Should I have some better covers? Are the wires bad? I can't adjust the bass and the treble to the point where I like it. It sounds like I"m in a tunnel all the time. My CLK has a much better sound to its radio....and that one is stock!!!!

I know I have to go back and get them to fix something...but what do I say?? Need help please.
Thanks

the installer must not have use the antenna adapter to hook up to your new system. They should used that adapter to hook the OEM antenna correctly.
