Help needed for used ML Purchase

It looks like I will be trading my Behemoth Lincoln Navigator for a more fuel efficient ML (350 maybe??) so I needed help on what I should look out for and what model I should steer away from.

I am currently getting like 12 MPG on the Navigator and its costing me about 400-500 a month on gas and that is just not cutting it anymore. I have about 2 weeks before I will start my search so I wanted to start my research now.

Thanks!!

Greg

for the 320's try to stay above 2000 due to the transfer case vibrations you get. Expect to get around 16 to 17 mpg with the ml's. Other than that read the 2'nd post of (The list of stuff to watch out for on a 163's) good stuff

In fact, I'd say stay with 04 or 05 if possible. They're even better built than the others. I don't know what grade gas the Lincoln used, but the ML is strictly premium fuel. On possible advantage with the ML is that maintenance is basically every 13K. If you can find a sport version, get it.

The lincoln uses strictly premium as well so I am used to the premium prices I just need a better MPG SUV. I will be closing on my new house on Tuesday so I will start looking for the ML soon after that.

Any more help is really appreciated... I also plan on trading the Navigator so I cant buy anyones off of the forum.

ML is an awsome machine

I believe the ML has had its problems in the past but totally reconditioned in 2006.

I wouldn't trade mine for any other SUV on the market today.

It is solid, elegant, quick and a dream to drive.

Have owned mine for a little over a year and plan to have it for quite a while longer.

No better way to tell but to drive one.

Good luck with whatever you choose but I would at least make sure you give it a chance and experience one first hand.

Best

2001 ML320 fully loaded except the damn navigation sytem.
^^ i agree with him. I have a 2001 ml320 and i wouldnt trade it for the world right now. It had a few issues (Expensive ones) when i first got it, but thats my fault because of lack of knowledge and research, but since this past summer, its been a dream to drive.

Wow! Wow!! Wow!!!. That list represents a ton of stuff that could go wrong with any vehicle, not only the ML. In addition, it pretends to speak for MLs of all years. That's not so. Infact, in its current format, that list is very unrepresentative of the ML, especially the latter ones. Like I said, with a 04, 05, even 03 there are very few things you'll to have to worry about. That list needs to be edited to indicate which years were affected most by what issues.
