trip computer died

Yesterday I noticed that the trip computer display was not on. Everything else located there (moonroof switch, lights) is still working. So I guess it is not a blown fuse (which one could it be).
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
EJ

i believe the trip computer is on the same fuse as the cigarette lighter and the auto-off radio function (least that's the case on my 98 ML) so if those are not working either its probably the fuse....the sunroof etc isnt on the same fuse so that wouldnt be a tell tell sign

Most likely its the trip computer itself. Went thru 2 of those in my original 98 ML.

Problem fixed, but how?

I got to the trip computer as described on Wolfgang pages. And checked the +12 V connections. Both (ignition + permmanent) were fine. Then I reconnected the cable and.... the trip computer came back to live !!

OK, happy about that. Not sure how it happened, maybe it was just a bad connection.

Anyway, I found also a new one on ebay for just 78 $, just in case I needed one. Compare that to the price at the dealer in the Netherlands (350 euro = 525 dollar). As soon as it is not a wear and tear part, parts are very expensive at Mercedes Benz.
