Low range
My 1998 ML320 gets stuck in low gear with the "low range" light on (not blinking). I would always have to take the battery terminal out and reconnect (reboot.....) and this will reset it and it would drive and shift normally for a few hours or days then the low range light would come on again.
Any clues?
