Unusual Tire Wear 2003 ML 500

Good afternoon all,

I am having a problem with the tire wear I am experiencing unusual tire wear on the inside shoulders of all four tires. These tires are Toyo Proxes S/T 275/55R17 and have about 25000km's on them.

I have inspected the suspension and steering and have found only a slight play in the right rear wheel bearing and slight play in the lower ball joint, both of which are on order but nothing to explain why all four tires are having the same problem.

The unit handles and still drives very well, giving no indication of alignment issues. is there any thoughts to what the cause might be or has anybody seen this before?

Double checked to be certain, but they are all at 32 PSI where I run them, except when towing more than a few km's I put the rears upto 39psi. I am pretty meticulous about the pressures and rotations.

EDIT:The 32 PSI is what the vendor and I decided when I bought the tires because the Continentals I had originally showed signs of overinflation when we took them off.

Could be that you are carrying a heavy load which would cause the inner edges to wear faster. Could also be an alignment issue. If you are towing what is the toung weight of the trailer too much could also cause that. It could also be the tires themselves but that is a remote possibility. I for one only use OEM suggested tires on all of my vehicles. they are selected by the mfg to be compatable with the vehicle suspension.
