robbed by the stealership, SF bay Area
well, i just had my "package B" done by Autobahn Dealership in Redwood Shores, CA, and all I have to say is WOW!
704.00 for things such as "topping off the fluids", checking the brakes, and CHANGING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS.
I am not so good with DIY techniques etc, but am wondering on where/what the best shops are for general MB maintenance...
i'm looking for dealer or better quality with prices that are cheaper.
if anything, are there even better dealerships than Autobahn.
BTW, i live in atherton/menlo park, so im generally looking for places in the peninsula
thank u

Wow - you really got ripped. My MB dealership at least checks the tire pressure and washes the car for $700. They are all the same. The only way to avoid this is to bring your car in and say - Do an oil change. THAT's IT. Don't check my fluids, don't clean the car, and don't rotate the air in the tires. I usually get funnly looks from the service advisor but the way I look at it, if I wanted winter and summer air changed in my tires for the change in seasons, I could do it myself.

actually, it's
495 for the Service B package...
then ~200 more for some "labor" inspecting specific stuff...
can i fight this/change it...
i found another post, where someone else went to the same dealership (Autobahn in Redwood Shores, CA)
but only paid 300 something for the Service B

I'm on the other side of the country, but my B service was around 340 or so + 50 for additional stuff I requested them to do... came out just under 400 total.. Though, they also did about 4 hrs of labor (that's another 400 worth) for free, writing it up under warranty, even though I was over 50k miles..

Thats insane. I took mine to Big Ten Tires and got a $30 dollar oil change. Topped off my own fluids for aroung $4 and reset my own service light for free. My dealership gives away car washes for free on Mondays-Thursdays. I got a really good air gauge from Pep Boys that cost $5 and found somewhere that has free air, most of the time it's a Chevron. Wipers are a no brainer but honestly, most of the time the dealership will not even change them. I can check my own brakes with a Mag Light and some common sense.
