2001 ml430
brake lights staying on????

help any suggestion on why my brake light stay on? got new brakes front and rear on fluid topped of. what can i be missing or is it something more involved?

First thing I would check would be the brake light switch. Common failure and easy to fix.

oh thats thought thanks alot. Is that switch in engine bay or insde cabin?

Brake lamp switch is under the driver's side dash, on the brake pedal. Remove under dash panel and find large switch on brake pedal. Press tab on switch and turn to the right 1/4 turn and pull out.
When putting in new switch make sure the tab on the switch is all the way out and then depress the brake pedal while installing switch. When you release the brake the switch will make rattchet noise.

Be certain that you purchase the correct part number for your vehicle and do not use an aftermarket switch. Correct MB switch only!!
