Exclamation Thoughts on odd sound?

This has me a little baffled. I'm getting an intermitent CEL, (p0105) maybe o2 sensor, but the wierd thing is this noise I'm getting. It sounds like an exhaust leak on the drivers side, but I can't duplicate it in my garage, it only makes it underload out on the street. The best I can articulate the sound is as a exhaust leak. Any thoughts?

Possibly but I have been up and down the exhaust and seen no tell tale signs
It is just the fact that it only makes it under load that bugs me

I've been there done that. Common failure. The symptoms were the same as you described. There is a recall for the cats on some year model ml. Mine cracked years back. They were replace by the dealer under warranty. Have a professional check your cats, the ML has two cats.

Yup I found it, drivers side hair line down the weld. Anyone else have this on an ML500? I have it set up to see the dealer tomorrow, so we will see if they step up

Update- This should help for all ML500 owners, our cats are covered by the 10 year or 80k miles warranty, so even though our trucks are not mentioned in the "recall" if they crack MB will replace. Mine has 52k on it and both sides are being replaced as I type.

Side note the SMART makes my coupe look rather low slung
