First towing experience

135 mile pull from Orange county NY to Long Island to drop a Trans Am off at a body shop. Total weight was probrobly around 3500lbs (or as high as 4000lbs depending on how much the stuff I pulled from the car weighed). Pulled no problems with a Draw-Tite hitch, Modulite, and Pinnacle brake controller. I think I'll be towing more often now, anybody have suggestions to make things easier, safer, better?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

I've found the V-8 ML's are very competent at towing large loads. I pulled 90 40lb bags of top soil and 20 landscape timbers on my 5 x 10 tilt back trailer with the ML430. I honestly could not feel the load. But, my Dodge truck would have swayed all over the place with much less. I wouldn't tow above 4th gear, though.

P.S.: I like how you have the load balance on the trailer axles. That's the #1 key to a good tow.

Thanks for the tip, I was keeping it in lower gears depending on speed and only went to 5th when on clear 65mph highways (NJ Turnpike), dont know if thats ok.
