basslink t or any subwoofer - ok to go under rear bench?

basslink t or any subwoofer - ok to go under rear bench?
Hi I have a 2005 270cdi.
I am going to be upgrading the whole sound sytem and want to put in a subwoofer, but I dont want to lose any of the cargo area.
So Is there enough room to install and sound good under the rear bench?
The manual for the basslink T say if you are going to install in a suv, to install it on the back of the rear seat, but like I said is it ok to be underneath the rear bench out of the way?
