Platinum plugs for older MLs..like 1999
Hey there. I want to replace the 12 plugs in my ML320 as it is approaching 100k miles.
I was planning on buying Bosch Platinum+2 4301 plugs. However, I've read other posts that seem to indicate that the Bosch FR8DPP33 platinum part # 0031598103 (7422) is the Bosch OE platinum plug that dealers use when replacing plugs and that one should stay away from these newer platinum plugs (Platinum+2 or +4) because the computerized ignition systems are sensitive to off-spec plugs. MB does not recommend platinum plugs except for certain engines.
Does anyone have any experience with the non-original plugs (Platimum+2 or +4). They are only a few dollars more per plug but maybe for my 99 ML320 I'm better served with an OE plug as a dealer would install.
Also, there seems to be such a wide difference in pricing, at least on the internet, even for the OE 7422 platinum plugs. The cheapest I've seen is approx $4.59 and it goes up from there...way up.

I have the Bosch Platinum Plus 4 in my 2002 ML320. No problems, whatsoever. I know that you shouldn't use anything but the conventional plugs in the older engines, but I think you'll be fine on these.

Thanks for the replies.
Anyone know if the plain Bosch Platinum+ (4009) would also work in my 99 ML?
*Actually not - never mind.
