if you have projector headlights, 6000K would be the max you should go for.
If you have the frosted pre 02' headlights, 5000K would be the max, or else, it is really really tacky ! If you don't mind ricy blues, go with 6000K on frosted headlights, and 8000K on projectors.

stock xenon is classy, aftermarket is chessy
with projector, you are focusing lights at one point and with the sharp cutoff, you will get those purple and blue at the cutoff. But stock is only 4300K- 4700K.
if you wanna upgrade it to 6000K, it looks a bit purple on most angles...if you're talking about 8000K, i would be interested to check that out too...

6000K on pre-projector housings, 4300K on projector housings

also - after market xenon (the good stuff) is exactly the same source as BMW, Mercedes and Audi. how can it be cheesey?

I do think they should discontinue all Kelvin numbers over 6000 though.

Also, remember, the lower the K number in HID xenons the brighter they are

4,300K is brightest

6,000K is bright

8,000K is borderline rice

10,000K+ is just awful

thought light output is measured by lumens.... not my Kelvin rating !

correct, but (color temperature) Kelvin is inversely Proportional to (brightness) Lumen output in HID headlamps

well, just so we're clear....there is a point in which lower ºK becomes dimmer and less bright, too, right? otherwise, we'd be lining up for 1ºK bulbs

Yes - Im just talking about the relationship between HID Xenon bulbs that peak in the Kelvin range between 4,300 and 12,000+

thanks for making me clarify!

yo, let us know how's the HID going on your ML?
I'd a set of 5000K sitting in my basement waiting to be installed, but I've only got a frosted pre 02' headlights, i'd plugged it in to test it before and it looked great... let's see how's yours going ?

Okay, so i finally got them..
i was planing to get 6000K H7 and H8 for fogs and projectors.
Instead, i got very anxious of waiting day after day and i just picked up the 8000k that was in stock.

But too bad the H8 werent, so i had to go back the net day.

But anyways, 8000K loooks SOOOOO SEXY ON THE projectors, bright, lots of range, and not ricey at ALL.. actually looks classy, with the aftermarket look.

Even thought i have 8000k for both dead and fogs, they are slightly different color.
only cause of the housing of the projectors are diff.
The fogs are more purple, the head lights are more blue,

My headlights has a clean cut off. and my fogs, take over the bottom(i need to re angle it)
The car looks So nice and bright with the HID.. 8000 is really nice.

Also while i was waiting i bought a set of MBquartz crossover and speakers for 110 installed Canadian. sounds great.

Then today i couldnt help myself to finally buy a in dash DVD installed. Clarion.

here was my shopping list from the weekend.

HID fogs and Head 8000k: 240 CDN installed
MB QUARTZ crossover and speakers 100installed
Indash 2 din Clarion MAX385VD dvd player 450 installed

and hopefully getting head set monitor x2 for 500 cad. installed.

I dont have pictures, currently cause, i finally got everything done today, taken it back for some resistors, and brake job.

Shop is called 3dsounds and security on Dawson street bby.
dawson and willingdon
yes, i know even tho they charge me this price, there still making alot off me, But where else can you fine a place for that price installed.

The price they gave me are not for others, they will charge you more most likely. but they woudl still give you some discount, pls dont mention about the price i got from them.

They sell warehouse price,
yes, i know the product on the HID probably suck, (china)
but as long as i have warrenty and they work , im fine.
but all the other audio are legit.

Okay so heres the pros and the cons about the hid on the ml.

Pro- Fog lights work perfectly fine- and I set it to Auto, so when i unlock my car it turns on.
-Head light works well at night.
-turns on when i turn it on( using the switch or ignition)
Cons- (only because its mercedes)
Morning- flicks ONLY if i dont turn on the light switch(due to light sensor)
this happoens only in the morning because your oem bulb, is dimmer)
HID works well when the switch is actually turn all

Nights- Okay, some mess up problems i had with this the first night.
1)the lights wouldnt turn OFF even if my car was off, this only happens when i use the switch. fixed it by turnning the car on again and put it in drive and then turning it off(without turning on the switch)
I think this happened because the ballast is not for official mercedes aka xenon present.

but everything worked Well today.night. no problems, turned on when i turn the car on/switch.. night was perfecty fine, worked like stock.
only problem in the day was because of the sensor. (it flicks) but thats easy to avoid by turning on the light switch)

i can meet you up if your in town one day.
