Hesitation 2000 ML320

Recently my 2000 ML320 started hesitating when accelerating after a cold start. Within 30 seconds or so the problem goes away. The car has 80,000 miles and changing the spark plugs didn't help.

What else should I look at? No CEL, so nothing to read with my scanner. I'm thinking maybe the EGR or a vacuum leak?

Alternator, starter, battery, misfiring, may be some possibilities

It's strange since it clears up in less than a minute. I thought a misfire would trigger a CEL, and there is no rough idle if there was a misfire.

Seems like there is a lack of fuel as it limps along (idles okay) , then all of a sudden it is fine. Any ideas would be welcomed, I really don't want to take it to the dealer. Thanks.
