I've got Michelin Latitudes which are my third set of tires on my 02 ML (now sporting 167k miles). After replacing the OEM Dunlops in kind the first time around, I decided to try the Michelins. The difference is unbelievable, smooth, quiet and overall great performance.

I have Michelin CrossTerrains on both my ML's. I put the Michelins on right after the crap OEM tires wore out. They are a world of difference from the OEM's. Unfortunately they don't make the Cross Terrains for SUV's anymore. Michelin now calls for the Latitude XP's for the ML's. I hope they will be as good a tire as the X-Terrains.

I have a 2001 ML430 with 71K miles and echo Mike's ML comments: ran OEM Dunlops to 45K miles, replaced with much improved CrossTerrains (from Costco $750 for 4), then after taking a piece of sheet metal and lag bolt in a rear tire, was forced to move to the newer Michelin Latitudes. Costco had me pay a prorated $125 for the one damaged tire and they replaced the other 3 as road hazards, no cost to me. I only recommend Michelins at this point for this vehicle.

I also run Michelins on my 1988 300SEL and my Audi A8L. Shop for the best price and then get the Michelins. Costco has $60-80 off on a set of 4 (coupons a few times per year). It is worth joining and getting the tires if you aren't a member. The above may seem like a commercial for Costco, but I am just frugal, they had the best deal, and they treated me well.

I never thought I could better the two sets of Michelin CrossTerrains until I slapped on a set of Goodyear Fortera Triple Treds; just an amazing all season performing tire and they look great on the ML.
