Ml320 2001, Evoultion 6
Please help my code is PO442

My check engine light came on 3 days ago and got it checked at advance auto. The code read was PO442 so they told me it could be a leak from the fuel cap so i replaced it an hr ago but the light is still on please let me know what i should do now because i dont want to spend again at the dealers. Please help

If you cannot have the light reset, and if in fact the gas cap was the problem, usually it's not closed properly, the CEL will go out after three consecutive cycles of driving if that was the problem. Read page 218 of your owners manual.

Thank you so much for your reply sir is there any way to get the code restted because i am really new in this and have no clue. I was thinking of filling up the tank again. I did change the fuel, do you think i should get the code checked again. Please let me know.thank you again for the reply because i was really worried

If you want to reset the check engine light go to Auto Zone and ask them to pull the codes. When there done with that slip the guy $5.00 and ask him to erase the codes. If that guy wont do it go to the next Auto Zone and repeat step one. Works for me. Boston Mark
