Greetings.

I bought my first Benz last week, got an 04 ML500. I'm really enjoying the car so far. There's just a few silly problems i'm having. Maybe there're easy fixes, maybe not.

- Accelerator Pedal operation is not smooth. It feels sticky and it's pretty hard to manouver the car in tight places and inclines. It's either on idle or lurches forward.

- SRS light is on if I don't have a passenger, and off when there's someone sitting. Presume there's an issue with the weight sensor or baby-seat sensor on the passenger seat?

That's all for now!

Congrats

Enjoy your new ride.

Accelerator pedal operation is not smooth. I've tried with no luck and dealer has replaced parts as well. It's just touchy. Sticky pedal and tons of power make for a sudden launch. You get used to it, mostly. I'd be curious to know if it's the V8s or all MLs. All other Mercedes I've ever driven had serious pedal travel to get it moving. The E is perfect and the diesels were, well, diesels.

Post some pics. Welcome to the club.

Dear Kibim, I too just bought an '04 ML500, with the same throttle pedal issue. I confirmed with another MBworld members posting that the plastic pivot pin and plastic pedal can be refurbished by removing the pin, ream or drill over-sized to remove the wear and install a bolt as a new shaft. It would be preferable to fit a nyloc type stop nut rather than rely on a spring washer and run the risk of pinching down onto the pedal body. This will be my task this weekend, I will let you know if it resolves the issue successfully.
