How do I know if I have towing package on 2001 ML430?
how do i know where towing package would be and what does that include? I do not see a hitch coming out of the back. where a hitch WOLD be is the spare tire

The tow hitch is/was a dealer installed accessory. About $700-800 installed. Still available.
The rectangular removable hatch in the center of the bumper is where the receiver would
hide if installed.
There are also aftermarket options for towing kits.

99 ML430 Prewired?
I have a 99 ML430 and plan to have a tow hitch added and have two questions can the spare stay put? And are they prewired to add the lighitng hook up for the trailer?

The spare tire stays put...the hitch has no impact on the spare tire and carrier. The wires are only run so far as the cargo area. The OEM hitch came with the additional wires and brake light controller that extend to the side of the hitch.
