thump when accelerate

99 ML320
thump when accelerate
I have a 99 ML320 and when I am at a stop and begin to accelerate there is a thump coming from the rear of the vehical. if anyone has experienced this or has any insite on this I would like to stop it before it gets worse. Thanks!!
