Rear heater vents - low flow (2003)

The rear vents do not cool off in summer, and the airflow is quite low.
In the winter there is some heat coming out but again not much flow.
The booster fan works fine and so does the direction flap motor (vent or heater)
I have had my ML 350 looked at by the dealership. They tell me that I need a new motor and clip for controlling the rear heat/cool flow.

I was wondering where I could look to get at the flap that controls the air to the back.
Thanks
Fred

Hi,

open the dash near driver feat. you'll see the motors (total 3 near feet). lowest one should be the rear motor. remove it (3 screws). most likely there is a broken (plastic) arm that needs to be replaced.

You can prior to removal test the motors by moveing the air direction and the same time holding the finger on motors. If you feel movement but no increase in air etc then it's the plastic arm. If no movement then it's the motor.

br,
T.

So what I ended up doing is opened up the panel and just jammed the flap open. I dont see the need to have it close really. This saved me $350 dollars to have it fixed.
