small clunk on acceleration

When I accelerate normally or quickly, it feels like something slips on the front end, like a tooth or something. I would say it is one or at most, two "slips", until it drives normal. If I accelerate slowly, it will not slip. What does this sound like? The slip sounds like a tiny "clunk", kinda hard to describe.

Sounds like it might be the motor mounts.

Well I am not so certain - I put the brake on, in Drive, and stepped on the gas trying to reproduce it, but it wouldnt clunk. Only seems to make the noise when the truck's actually moving. Shouldnt it make that noise for the test I jsut did, if it was the mounts?
I'm really thinking its something in the drivetrain but have no clue what.

it wont make a clunk when you do that test...

when my engine mounts went the engine would just torque itself out of the engine bay... have a second person watch the engine and if it begins lifting out of its spot in the engine bay... its most likely the mount

it could also be a center bearing... but that usually shows under hard acceleration in 1st gear

I'll find out soon, it just really seems like it is not a mount, I can almost sense that its coming from the drivetrain. It *will* make a second slip/clunk noise within a second or two of the first one, although much less harsh, if I am really on the pedal. That's what makes me really think its not a mount, because I would expect during acceleration, to only hear one clunk if it was a mount, not more than one. (sure, if you let off the gas I could see how you might hear another one, but like i said, i am still accelerating as I hear the second clunk).
I'm going to look into this "center bearing" thing, that's probably it.

center bearing is more of a grinding noise than a clunk.

Any ideas on the cost to replace the mounts? Have this same issue.

I had that same clunk, on the same model, after replacing the mounts (motor, transmission and differential) it went away. So I'm not sure which it was. I also replaced the tie rods and control arms at the same time, so I can't be sure what it was exactly.

sounds like the engine mounts are broken. the mounts are cheap but labor is what gets you. mounts are about $90 but labor is 5hrs.
