On the old board I had asked how the ML was in beach sand pulling a trailer. I got some good advice such as disengage the ESP, use low range and lower the tire pressure.
Today I had my first opportunity to try it out. WOW, I couldn't believe the difference compared to my GMC K1500 ext cab. I did everything except lower the tire pressure, mainly because I'm lazy and didn't want to fill the tires back up. Although I did buy a hand pump to inflate them.
I don't know if it is a combination of a short wheel base and all four wheels driving v/s a long wheel base with at best 3 wheels driving,( the GMC has posi), but the Ml does pull better.
At one point I had the back wheels in the water with the waves digging them in deeper while I unloaded the boat off the trailer. I was a little worried if I was going to pull out of there, no problem, not even a bit of tire spin.
All this and class too, can you ask for more?

Said that I did NOT TOW my boat. Its a 38 foot sportfish with a pair of Detroit Diesel 6-71 turbos. Just the fuel would exceed the tow limits of the ML
