ML 320 Door Panel Removal
Hi all,
I have a 2000 ML 320 and the drivers side window is stuck down, the motor cycles and I suspect the regulator but want to get the drivers door panel off to look at it, and at least get it closed before the rain tomorrow!
Can someone help with how to remove the panel, any problems with the side airbags?
Any advice would be gratefully received, I'm a Mercedes newbie.
Thanks,
Michigan.

Out Of Control!!
Ok it's been a few years since I took a W163 door apart but iirc
Pull the abs badge off the door, there is a screw there
Then using a panel removal tool or a flathead screwdriver wrapped in tape pop the insert out of the door handle and I believe two more screws under there.
The rest of the door is on clips... So slowly work your way around the door gently but firmly pulling on the door skin.
Once the skin is popped off the clips the door skin should slide straight up. Unclip the wires to the light as well as the door lock.

The only thing I'd add is that before you take the panel off get at least 10 new clips. These cars are old enough that the plastics are getting brittle and a few of the clips will certainly break. Also some epoxy may come in handy. The door panel is really made of molded cardboard. Some of the panel mounts may give before the plastic fins give. When that happens a new clip will do no good as there is no mounting recess available. A little glue and a clamp makes it stronger than new.

I know this is an old post but some of us are still driving the MLs around. If anyone in the future needs help with removing the door panels here are the best instructions I found.
