Just a quick question to those who have the knowledge. Is the window (solar tint) on the w163 part of the glass or a laid on film? The reason I ask is that I've had a quote to put a darker shade on the car and the auto tint specialist said that it would cost me $50 extra to remove the old tint before he can put on the new.

I reckon he was winding me up as I thought that a factory optioned tint would be in the glass, not on it.

Any answers would be appreciated.

It is in the glass and if you need to remove old tint use an amonia base window cleaner and a fine grade steel wool. Easier than spending $50
