My 2006 ML350 has been absolutely trouble free for 80K miles, then, with out warning, the 7 sp auto transmission completely craped out. Tec thought a clutch plate might have come apart. Who knows? Replaced it with a factory rebuilt unit. I have only done limited light towing in the past. Have these electronic 7 speed transmissions had a history of failure? 80K doesn't seem like a great amount of miles for something like this to go "south." Just curious about others experiences. Thanks.

Every so often I run across one that just fails regardless of the miles Ive seen as low as 30k failures.
