How to replace key shell? (mercedes flip key mb1k)
So we are the proud new owners of a 2002 ML320, but the MB1K flip key has seen better days......... so I ordered a new "shell" off ebay, which is exactly the same - except empty... Just the plastic shell for the mercedes flip key mb1k
I could not seem to find a tutorial on how to open and exchange the "guts" from the old beat up key shell to the new one... I'm sure someone has done this before me.............. any help would be appreciated.

I don't think its possible to change the shell! I think you have to get all new keys using the VIN number...
I might be wrong! I would like to know as well since I have the same problem. One set I have is dead and the other has a broken key ring holder.

YES you absolutely CAN change the shell on a MB1K switch blade style flip key. It's not the easiest thing I've ever done, but it is very do'able.
