Brake Light and Brake Pad Wear Light Flashing/Beeping

Brake Light and Brake Pad Wear Light Flashing/Beeping
01 ML430 out of nowhere the pad wear sensor, check engine and brake light came on. The brake light and pad light start flashing and beeping the moment the engine is started and doesnt stop beeping except when the car is stopped at a light.
Q- if it is the brake pads, shouldn't the lights flash and beep ONLY when brakes are applied? Is this a sign that the sensor is bad? I am going to do brakes this week, but how can I teel if it is a bad sensor.
And does anybody know how to disable the beeping and flashing, until I can do the brakes at weeks end.???? The incessant beeping is making me lose my mind when sitting in traffic for an hour and a half EACH WAY to work.... Thanks
