I couldn't get the alternator loose. Tried it this past weekend! I replaced my belt tensioner though. It was pretty simple. I have pics however they will not load. You can find me on facebook or pm me and I can email you...
It looks like its somehow pressed into the mounting bracket. I tried to get it loose but, it would not budge at all.

It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought! I did everything correct. However, the moron at Merchants did not assemble my pulley correctly which resulted in the shaft breaking off at the pulley.
RULE OF THUMB NEVER GET HELP FROM A NON-MERCEDES MECHANIC...They swapped it for free and I eventually got it all worked out.
The spacers in the mounting bracket are supposed to move toward the front of the car a few mm which will allow you to slide out the alternator. I used some nut buster and a screwdriver to wedge it out. I put an ice pick in the top mounting bolt which allowed me to swing the alternator so I could get to the wires without putting any stress on them.
