Specifically what brand of spark plug wire removal tool can be used to remove the boot from the plug on the ML's? I have two but they don't fit. I've heard that you can use the valve adjusting wrench for a 110 motor to remove them but I suspect that the tool is a Hazet and would be quite expensive and hard to find.

have you considered removing some of the stuff around there, or unscrewing the plug box thingy.
