NEED HELP FAST!!..98 ML320 Brake pad installation
I have many experience with brake installation. However, this is the first encounter with a problem and this is my first Mercedes Benz I worked on. I am in the process of installing REAR BRAKE PADS for my 1998 ML 320. I got everything apart, I replaced the pads...but now, I can't push the caliper back into the slot. It's not like the other Hondas/Mitsu/Toyota, where caliper slides out easily. Is there any special tools I have to use? If anyone has a site that I can refer to, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated. HELPPPPPPPPP!!!! Need the car running by tonite!!!

to have an extra clearance when inserting the caliper? the pads should be installed before putting it back. That's why you need to push back the piston Have you take the brake out at the same time? If not just copy how the other side installed, and you will be alright. Its not that hard at all.

Yes, I have already pushed the piston back and all the pads are in the position. The only problem I have is putting the whole piece (caliper) back onto the rotor. Somehow, there isn't enough space to slide it back in. Do I have to use a hammer to hit it back it? or is there a special tool?

NO, You don't have to use a hummer
Try to reposition the pad It could be not sitting properly, actually you don't have to push the piston allthe way because you could damage the seal and your fluid wil leak. Take tha pad out and put it back in.. it should work this time

Let me rephrase it......Everything is in position....pads/pistons are okay...Everything fits...I'm just having problem with the caliper. From top-to-bottom, the caliper is longer than the original slot. When I pulled off the caliper, I had to hammer it out after loosening the 2 bolts... Any get it?
