how big are the discs on a ml55? will they fit under my 18in rims?

The 320 set-up is for a "floating caliper". The 55 is a "fixed caliper". Therefore you will need different rotors, calipers, steering knuckles, backing plates, brakes hoses and wear sensors.

If you have enough money to do this then you will be happy.

What do you think a ball park cost for just parts would be? And is braking really improved that much? Or would I be better off with say a brembo kit

About $1,250 per front wheel and that is not including the rear wheels.
