Hey all....i don't actually own/have a mb. i'm an audi/ducati owner. my parents recently purchased an ml 350, and asked me about trailer hitches etc.... i haven't actually been to their house to check it out yet, but i have been doing research.

anyways, two things

1. the oem hitch seems like the best thing to get since it has everything, and you'd only be saving 100bux by purchasing aftermarket (hidden hitch etc). is the install hard?? it seems as though the only thing that may cause problems- is removal or rear bumper cover/re-install of it. everything else looks quite straight forward.

2. can anyone give me part number for the center piece of the bumper? i'm going to cut away at the stock one to make room for the hitch, but in case my parents ever need me to take it off, i want to be able to re-install the bumper to as-new condition.

The oem hitch is very easy to install. The bumper cover comes off with I believe two bolts (its been about a year since I intalled the hitch). The wiring harnes that comes with the package installs quickly. You can put the whole thing on in probably less than an hour.

As far as the the plastic piece goes that fits around the hitch, you can easily cut out the shape of the hitch protrusion and put it back on. I think I have seen some people post on this topic saying that they have a template. I just eyeballed it.....
