Where does all the oil go?? 99ML430 42K
Question of the day.
I am the original owner of a 99 ML 430, with 42,000 miles. I have noticed in the last 10-15,000 miles that I am going through a quart of oil about every 3,000 miles. I called my dealer today, and they told me it was normal for this model to go through a quart in as little as 1,500 miles.
I have no noticeable leaks, underneath, at seals, or at exhaust pipe.
Any hints or suggestions?!? Thanks John

A quart every 3000 miles is excessive without question. I would insist on an answer and correction of the problem. If it does not drip and does not smoke I am stumped as to where it could be going. Further testing is indicated to diagnose.

Using oil?
I also have a '99 430 and have not noticed that kind of usage. That surprises me given the oil change interval suggested by MB and the use of synthetic oil. Guess I'll start checking mine more often. I too would be looking for an answer other than 'normal usage'.
