Audio problem ML320

Hi ML320.2002 I am having problems with the audio. The CD player does not see the CD cartridge, it displays "No CDs inserted"; I see the radio stations on the LCD display but I am not hearing a single sound out from the speakers? What should I do?? I can't afford the MB dealership they are charging arm and a leg just to check it.......

Do you have the MCS fiber system in your ML320? Is your system the Bose system? When you pull the Head Unit out does it have a 90 degree black plug that is fed from what looks like 2 orange wires on the center bottom on the back. That is the fiber optics if you have that. If this connector is not in snug it will not make good connection and will not work with the CD changer or Amp. So have you pulled the Head Unit out at all recently or maybe done anything inside that may have jarred, pinched or in any other way possibly have damaged the wiring or connections? It is possible that you have a loose connection behind the Head Unit. Have you checked your fuses? The amp has a separate fuse from the Head Unit. That is a start if you haven’t tried those yet.
