Can anybody tell me why Mercedes Benz used 0w40 in stead of 5w40, for our w163

2002 ML 320 & 2006 ML500
Engineers have determined that certain synthetic oils at 0W-40 perform the same as other oils a 5W-40. If you want to use 5W-40, pick one from the approved list.
