front ball joints

I just came back from "B" service. I was advised that my 99 ML430 with 51k miles, the front left and right ball joints have to be replaced...$700 for total job. They wear out that fast?

Second, they told us that the front pads and rotors have to be replaced too...another $700. The pads were done at 35k miles...y do they go so fast? Is this normal on the ML's?

damn...

Well I don't know about the ball joints, but the V8 MLs do eat brake pads and rotors pretty quickly .

Brake Pads & Rotors:

Our repair shop guy was saying that the rotors were getting changed about every 2nd or 3rd brake pad so your thing does not sound so out of line. However $700 is a pretty steep. I'd get a second quote from somewhere else. I think my fronts were done around $350 including everything.
