SRS light stays on with amp install - help
Hi everyone -
I just installed a new sub amp into my 430. After the installers completed the job the SRS warning light comes on and stays on constantly. Installers said they don't have the equipment to reset. Anything I can do - or is this a dealer fix? Thanks in advance. - Doc

Where was the amp installed - location on vehicle? Reason I ask is because if they had to disconnect any of the SRS harnesses, they probably just forgot to reconnect it. When I did my VES install, I had to disconnect the rear seat belt harness from one of the seats and this triggered the SRS light until I reconnected the harness. It could be something as simple as that. I really can't see the relationship between amplifier installation and SRS, except for a disconnected harness.

The amp is installed under the rear drivers side fold down seat. It's secured by velcro to the carpet.
You're thought about the SRS harness is interesting - is this a harness that is easily seen? Thanks again.

I agree with Darkmann - hopefully ...
just a connector that needs to be plugged in. Worse case, they may have cut a wire. Look aorund the side of the seat, underneath with a flashlight, and see if you can find the connector. The passenger side rear seat connector is taped to the seat frame on the door side if I remember correctly.

I did take it to dealer - they said they found the wires cut and wanted to charge me $575.00 to rewire - I said no & that I would go back to the install shop. Dealer still charged me $312.00 to "diagnose" the problem.
I plan on making the install shop pay for the charge and fix the problem. They did fix the problem which they said was the connector that was not plugged in so the SRS light is now out, but no word on the reimbursement yet. For cryin out loud - if they would have found the disconnected connector in the first place....jeez. I'll keep you posted.
