why go to MB dealer for bi-xenon upgrade..

Hi guys,
thanks for all your help...
Iam sure this may have been answered some time however I have to throw this out.
I will be installing my bixenon lights. I was told by seller that I would have to go to the dealer to get them "turned on" cost aprox$40 or so.
I called my local MB dealer and they didnt really have an answer for me . I was told after being on hold for awhile that the head mechanic said they can hook them up to my fog light switch. ??????
what is that all about. I need my fog light switch for....well....foglights. cost$95/30min of work. ya right!

SO TO ALL YOU MB GURU's CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I AM TO ASK FOR EXACTLY.
I will install but will they not work after I plug them in? or does MB dealer have to wave their magic wand over my motor to make it happen.
also can the upgrade fuse be purchased directly from MB or anyther automotive store?

thanks guys your the best!!!

knowing the year and model of your ML would help a lot. Your profile says 1999 ML430, if it is a 99 all you have to do is physically swap the lights using the adapter for the 98-2001 ML's and swap fuse 34 and 35 (i think) from a 7.5A to a 15A. After that, aim the lights and you are done! I did this on my 99 ML320 and they work great! Dealer only needs to change a setting if you have a 2002-2004. BTW, I got my fuses @ the walmart automotive section for like 2 dollars.
